the first amendment

For this project, each student was assigned an amendment of the United States Constitution to create four separate design pieces around. The images had to be text-based, image-based, text-and-image-based, and a collage combining the three. I was given the First Amendment, which protects freedom of speech and the individual rights of the people.

With the color palette only allowing black, white, and one other color, I chose red because it is loud and dynamic, just like the First Amendment. When the protests around the Black Lives Matter movement began, I was again reminded of these pieces and just how important the First Amendment is to the American people. It is a reminder of how every citizen has the right to speak their mind and stand up for justice, no matter who may disagree.

I reposted these images to my Instagram because I believe that now, more than ever, it is important to remember our Constitutional rights and use our voices to make a positive change in the world. I hope my own work will do just that.
